About Us
The Six Bells is a historic public house located on Lyminster Road in Lyminster, West Sussex. Constructed in 1732, the building features squared knapped flints with brick dressings and a slate roof. It has been designated as a Grade II listed building by Historic England since August 21, 1975.
The pub’s name, “The Six Bells,” is believed to be linked to the nearby St Mary Magdalene Church, which houses a ring of six bells. These bells date back to 1759, with some recast in subsequent years. This connection suggests that the pub may have historically served as a gathering place for the church’s bellringers.
The Six Bells underwent a significant £400,000 refurbishment, re-opening in early April 2025 after a three-and-a-half-year closure. The renovation transformed the establishment into a high-quality, family-friendly country pub, offering an extensive menu featuring locally sourced produce and a premium selection of drinks.
The Six Bells remains an integral part of Lyminster’s heritage, bridging its historical roots with contemporary hospitality.
